Chains That Bind: Racism, Sexism and Classism by Sheila D. Collins
"The roots of racism and sexism are thus inextricably interwoven. It is not surprising, then, that early American slaveholders sought a legal and ideological justification for the practice of slavery, through English Common Law’s definition of women as wards of their fathers and husbands(Collins, 1978). This is an interesting article, in that it looks at the commonality of wives and slaves, as well as the religious support that capitalism, sexism, and racism receive. This is not my religion nor even my deity, however I do like the message that they are trying to convey. They wanted and want women to, ". . .reclaim Christianity in order to de-legitimate, to subvert sexual, racial and class oppression, thus freeing humanity to fulfill its God-intended destiny."
Why Does Capitalism Create Racism and Sexism?
racism/capitalism : Cody Nagy : http://www.angelfire.com/co2/socialism/racismandsexism.html
"What are the root causes of racism and sexism, you may ask? Capitalist supporters will proclaim that racism and sexism are simply natural aspects of human nature, and society itself is not to blame. Nothing could be further from the truth. Like the proverbial snake in the grass, capitalism, and all class-divided societies, nurture and create imaginary dividing lines between human beings based on race, gender, ethnic affiliation and other things (Anglefire)."

"Over at the Village Voice website the provocative African American critical theorist and savvy analyst of U.S. society, Greg Tate, offers “Top 10 Reasons Why So Few Black Folk Appear Down To Occupy Wall Street,” a humorous and sarcastic take on this issue. (See other comments on Tate’s piece here and here.) Most of the Occupy movements do appear to have been disproportionately white(Joe, 2012)."
